These records are recommendations from Ron Morelli, the man behind New York label L.I.E.S (Long Island Electrical Systems). L.I.E.S was voted "best record label of 2012" by British online record retailer Juno. The interview with Morelli was published here, in November 2012.

Electronic Dance Music

Below is a list of music lists compiled while researching contemporary electronic dance music.

The majority of links connect to "2012 year in review" articles published by major online retailers - Boomkat, Juno and Beatport.

There are also a few things included that I discovered late in the piece from "Dummymag" as well as a couple of things from Blogs I follow (Aquarium Drunkard, Melting Pot, Antvala).

Boomkat and Juno are British- not sure about Beatport or Dummymag. The blogs are west-coast U.S. and focus on rock and soul rather than electronic music.

It seems like the best way to listen to this material- without buying it, is through Youtube.

One guy starts an evolution of dancing

Seth Godin writes: “it’s guy #3 who made it a movement.”
Kyra Gaunt, author of The Games Black Girls Play, comments: "I think [Seth Godin] is actually riffing off the sociological work of Georg Simmel (1950) who argued that the number of people in a group helps form the social relations which take place in that group."

Shout out to Soul Sides for starting the discussion.
